Both evenings will begin with a culinary introduction by Michelin-starred chef Christoph Lang from the Aachen restaurant “La Becasse.” After these culinary delights, guests will move to the ballroom, where Prof. Dr. Angelica Rieger's readings on “Her Paris” will begin at 7 p.m.
Prof. Dr. Angelica Rieger is a renowned expert on French literature and the French capital. In “My Paris I” (October 22), she takes the audience on a journey through the centuries to “her” Paris. To this end, she has selected some special personal highlights from literature, art, and architecture. She begins in the Middle Ages, following in the footsteps of the most famous lovers of the 12th century, Abélard and Héloise. Later, she pays a visit to the Sainte-Chapelle. And she also pays homage to the beautiful lady with the unicorn, who is enthroned in the Museum of the Middle Ages, the Musée de Cluny.
“My Paris II” (October 23) does not begin in the Middle Ages, but in 19th-century Paris. Readers can visit the French queens in the Jardin du Luxembourg before being transported to the world of Art Nouveau and the Belle Époque and experiencing contemporary street art in modern Paris.
