A representative overview of the history of stained glass
Historical copies from the 19th century are used to illustrate both the formal and technical development from the beginnings in the Middle Ages to the present day. Famous Renaissance artists such as Albrecht Dürer, Hans Holbein the Elder and Hans Baldung Grien provided the models for the stained glass. The focus of the collection is on stained glass from the 20th and 21st centuries. In particular, the representation of classical modernism (first half of the 20th century) in stained glass is shown with works by Joerg Schumann and Hans Baldung Grien. In particular, the collection presents works by Johan Thorn Prikker, Heinrich Campendonk, Anton Wendling, Georg Meistermann, Wilhelm Teuwen, Wilhelm Buschulte, Joachim Klos, Jochem Poensgen, Ludwig Schaffrath, Johannes Schreiter and Hubert Spierling.
