Premiere of the new youth cathedral choir

A new mixed formation is being launched in the cathedral choir. It consists of older singers from the girls' choir and young men from the cathedral choir. Cathedral cantor Marco Fühner, who is conducting this performance, has selected works from half a millennium of music history to provide an experimental sound experience.
The program includes the Missa Brevis by Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina. Although the 16th century work represents traditional church music, its simplicity creates a special effect, as its sung melodies meander through the space in large arcs and have a radiant, lyrical effect. A psalm set to music by Austrian composer Peter Planyavsky enters into an exciting dialog with this. The rest of the program also focuses on contrasts and experimental sound experiences.
