On days like these, you find yourself longing for eternity
There are certain things, events, and moments that can be described in words, that can be wonderfully captured with the most beautiful adjectives both a factual and emotional levels, and yet are best experienced firsthand. Then, and only then, can you really feel the vibe, and it lingers, for many people, it remains with them forever. That’s how it is for me. Even as a small child, I used to go to the CHIO year . In a little summer dress and hat—yes, that was a must on Sundays—or in rubber boots. Aachen rain, after all. I collected autographs and cheered from the stands. And all that without ever having been a horse-loving girl. My longing for the CHIO and the World Equestrian Games has run through my life. The best part is: Every year feels unique, one-of-a-kind, like the first time .
And now I can already feel that special sense of anticipation again. It’s not just me. Aachen is the countdown. Aachen is living and breathing the passion and excitement for equestrian sports. The shop windows are aglow with the most beautiful decorations, such as horse-shaped gingerbread cookies and colorful pennants, saddles and jumps. Events are being promoted, and the buses speak volumes with their beautiful advertisements. Hotels and restaurants are preparing for guests from all over .
