From September 12 to 14, 2025, the region between Geilenkirchen and Gangelt will celebrate the 125th anniversary of the former Geilenkirchener Kreisbahnen with a big festival along the former Selfkantbahn railway line and in all stations. Under the motto “Rails connect us. For 125 years.” numerous stakeholders are currently working with great commitment and anticipation on a diverse program.
Whether station festivals, exhibitions, open-air concerts, or steam train operations with the historic Selfkantbahn—in many places along the route, the eventful history of the narrow-gauge railway will be brought to life while celebrating the region's vibrant present.
