The permanent exhibition “Destined to Be the Master Race” at the former Ordensburg Vogelsang complex takes you deep into the ideology and reality of a place that once served to train a supposed political elite. Through numerous documents, photos, and personal stories, it shows how young men were shaped here to conform to the ideal image of a “new German man.” The architecture of the massive complex itself stands as a striking testament to the National Socialists’ display of power. The exhibition reveals how the so-called Ordensjunkers in the occupied territories of Europe became perpetrators, while also raising questions of responsibility, seduction, and the scope for action.
