Bravo! Bravissimo! 200 years of theater in Aachen

Exhibition

Insights into the past, present, and future of Theater Aachen

On May 15, 1825, the Aachen Theater was officially opened: Ludwig Spohr's “Jessonda” was the first opera performed, followed by Shakespeare's “Romeo and Juliet,” marking the beginning of this new cultural venue's history.

“Bravo! Bravissimo! 200 Years of Theater Aachen” invites all visitors to discover the theater from a new perspective. Many historical moments are presented in an entertaining way through exhibits and documents or as videos and audio samples. Immerse yourself in the thoughts of important personalities, such as Ferdinand Ries, the conductor and director of the first Lower Rhine Music Festival in Aachen. The exhibition offers an insight into 200 years of Aachen theater history, playing with different time levels.
