Global Aachen - Work of little hands

Guided tour/tour
The work of little hands

Fascinating aspects of the Fairtrade City: This special guided tour of the city center invites you to reflect on important social issues. During the tour, our guides will take you on a journey into the past and discuss child labor, social injustice, and social upheaval—key terms often used to describe the era of industrialization in Germany. But what was the situation in Aachen regarding these issues in the past, and what impact did industrialization have on the former cloth-making city? On this tour, you’ll learn plenty of interesting facts about the city’s economic development and its social consequences. We’ll explore how the city has changed through industrialization and the role Aachen played as a center for miners, as well as what life is like in this Fairtrade City today. This tour, which takes you to the Katschhof and Lindenplatz, among other places, raises awareness about conscious consumer behavior and highlights how social norms have evolved over the centuries.
