Starting with her debut film Fresh Kill (1994), the Taiwanese-American artist and filmmaker brings together works from the past three decades and places them in an updated context.
KI$$ KI$$ unfolds across four exhibition rooms and the museum hall, where the works are staged as interconnected landscapes. They invite visitors to immerse themselves in the artist's creative cosmos and experience her extraordinary practices of worldbuilding—the invention and design of fictional worlds.
In her science fiction narratives, waste and recycling as well as natural and artificial intelligence become central themes that guide Cheang's exploration of the intertwining of the biosphere and technosphere. Each of the rooms becomes a world of its own, where internet-based installations and software interactions invite the audience to explore and play.
