Aachen Archaeological showcase: History under glass
In the middle of the ‘Elisengarten’ park, a quiet entrance under glass opens up to the early history of Aachen. The archaeological showcase shows you different stages of excavation, ranging from Stone Age traces to finds from the Roman period and medieval remains. Between walls, floor structures and carefully excavated artefacts, you get an impression of how life in this place has changed over thousands of years. The depth of the layers tells of change and continuity, and as you stand in front of the transparent enclosure, the present gently connects with the past.
