Elisabethhalle Aachen: an Art Nouveau bath with historic character

The Elisabethhalle is one of the few remaining Art Nouveau baths in Germany, and even the entrance area shows how carefully it was designed at the beginning of the 20th century. Decorated chandeliers, dark wood panelling and mosaic columns tell of a time when bathhouses were places of tranquillity and well-being. Since 1910, the figure of Asclepius has welcomed visitors and served as a reminder of the healing tradition that underpins the architecture. Walking through the hall, it feels as if the past and present are quietly meeting. The special atmosphere gives you a sense of how much the city values its architectural history.
