Theresienkirche - church
The Theresienkirche is somewhat hidden away on the edge of Aachen's student quarter. From the outside, it has a simple 18th-century façade designed by architect Laurenz Mefferdatis. It is only inside that the true character of the church unfolds. The Rococo design is by Johann Joseph Couven, whose fine lines, curved shapes and light ornamentation lend the space a light, almost floating atmosphere. The church is dedicated to Saint Teresa of Avila and feels like a quiet place between lecture halls and residential buildings, where silence and artistic design come together in a special way.
