Heilig-Kreuz-Kirche - church
The 'Heilig-Kreuz-Kirche' (Holy Cross Church) is located in the lively Pontviertel district and takes you into a space that has retained its historical character despite its eventful history. The cruciform basilica was consecrated in 1902 and built according to plans by Josef Buchkremer. Its compact floor plan was a result of the limited building space, which still gives it a special presence today. When you enter the interior, you will encounter a church interior that is one of the few in Aachen that has been largely preserved in its original historicist style. This interplay of simple form and atmospheric depth makes the church a place where you can find peace and quiet as well as discover architectural details that reflect a piece of Aachen's city history.
