2.5 km of Industrial History: Jülicher Straße
The exhibition explores the history of the industrial district along Jülicher Straße, which developed rapidly in the 19th century thanks to available land, access to water from the Wurm River and favourable environmental conditions. Visitors discover the wide range of products manufactured there, from umbrellas to safes, as well as the successes, crises and structural changes that shaped the area. The exhibition also examines social history, highlighting the living and working conditions of labourers, workplace risks, housing conditions and the role of women in industrial society.
