Seventeen artists from the artists' collective dreieck.triangle.driehoek are exhibiting their works on Stolberg's industrial identity. Stolberg looks back on a multifaceted industrial past: the glass and ceramics industry, ore mining, copper smelting, needle manufacturing, and the cloth industry with spinning mills and weaving mills formed the economic backbone of the city for a long time. This heritage is still evident today – for example, in soap and perfume production, in pharmaceutical laboratories, and in traditional textile and sewing accessory companies. At the same time, the region bears the burden of harmful lead emissions and the historical responsibility for the thalidomide disaster.
The exhibition focuses on the industrial traces as well as the social consequences, including unemployment and structural changes. The artists take up historical legacies, material residues, and atmospheric impressions and transform them into contemporary, sometimes expansive works of art.
The exhibition is accompanied by guided tours and workshops. Further information can be found here.
