The joy of the earth. Horses in art
Grace, strength, elegance – since ancient times, horses have exerted a fascinating attraction on mankind, whether as majestic companions, hunting partners or loyal companions. Particularly during the Baroque period and in the 19th century, the horse, its temperament, speed and strength were honoured in numerous depictions. On the occasion of the World Equestrian Games in Aachen, the Suermondt-Ludwig-Museum is therefore presenting a significant exhibition that can be understood as a tribute to the horse in the visual arts.
