Artist Talk at Elisengalerie
Aachen-based sculptor Wolfgang Binding, emeritus professor of sculpture at RWTH Aachen University, is one of the leading figures of figurative sculpture in the region. His works combine precise observation of nature with a condensed, expressive formal language, often cast in bronze.
In conversation with his gallerist Andreas Petzold, Binding’s work is presented and contextualized within art history. Particular attention is given to works in public space, including the Saint George sculpture at Aachen-Brand police headquarters and the “Playing Horses” group at the entrance to the CHIO grounds in the Soers district.
Afterwards, a tactile tour offers visitors the opportunity to experience selected artworks through touch and gain a direct impression of their sculptural qualities.
