Museum/Exhibition
Privat museum in one of the oldest town houses of Aachen
Since the official opening at the beginning of March 2019, the Aachen museum landscape has another interesting station with the "Büchel Museum in der Roten Burg". In the "Rote Burg“ (engl. red castle), one of Aachen's oldest town houses with its historic cellar, which has been preserved since 1450, a private art collector from Aachen has made his collection accessible to the public.
The collection includes about 200 original artworks by the painter and illustrator Emil Orlik (1870-1932). Through his many travels, the artist, born in Prague, has renewed his style over and over again, which is reflected in some of his artworks, which are Japanese or Arab influenced.
In the future, literary evenings with readings by authors (also from the region of Aachen) and musical evenings to promote young musicians will take place in the "Rote Burg" during the year.
