Fortress/Castle
The legendary Burg Frankenberg castle, is situated in the heart of the Frankenberg district.
There are various stories surrounding the castle, built in the 13th century. It is claimed that Charlemagne the Great presented a ring to his third wife, Fastrada, which would bind her to the great Frankish ruler for ever. After her death, Bishop Turpin found the ring and threw it into the castle moat. Now, the ghost of Charlemagne the Great still stalks the castle in search of the ring. Only here will he be able to find peace. Today, the castle, of which only the main building remains standing, is a culture centre. During the summer months, it serves as a popular venue for the Das Da Theater.  Are you looking for a great wedding location? The Burg Frankenberg castle, in the middle of the trendy Frankenberg district in Aachen, is an excellent option!
