Marschiertor
The Marschiertor is one of Aachen's best-preserved city gates and is a reminder of a time when walls and fortified gates determined the rhythm of urban life. Built in the 13th century, it served as the southern entrance to the city and was also an important defensive point. Its massive construction reflects the importance of protecting the city at that time. Standing in front of the gate today, you can feel the proximity to history reflected in the stone blocks. The Marschiertor stands as a silent witness to an era when Aachen was an important centre in the west of the empire, inviting visitors to explore the city with a glimpse into the past.
