Burtscheid
Burtscheid’s roots reach back to Celtic and Roman times and it was first mentioned in 1018. Its warm thermal springs shaped daily life and turned the area into an early center of healing. A Benedictine monastery later influenced Burtscheid’s development for centuries. Today the district blends calm corners with urban energy and architecture from many eras. Among baroque buildings, narrow streets and the gentle flow of the Wurmbach, Burtscheid feels like a place that preserves its own identity while remaining connected to modern Aachen.
