Europaplatz

Europaplatz is one of Aachen's most striking arrival points. Where the roundabout used to be, you are now greeted by a spacious square dominated by the city's largest fountain. Its mighty jets have been a feature of the square since 1958, when it was inaugurated after decades of planning. If you are coming from Cologne, Belgium or the Netherlands, this is where you get your first impression of Aachen, which appears modern and at the same time reminiscent of the urban planning visions of the post-war period.
