Neumarkt
Neumarkt is one of Aachen's oldest squares and was first mentioned as a place of daily life in the early 13th century. For a long time, it served as a market for fruit and vegetables, a meeting place where people from the surrounding area gathered and exchanged news. Today, the square has been given a new look after undergoing extensive renovation in 2017. Its open design, small restaurants and a popular play area make it a place where you can relax and soak up city life. A weekly market is held here regularly, continuing the square's historical use into the present day and enhancing its lively atmosphere. Between old structures and new urban culture, a space is created that makes tradition tangible without remaining stuck in the past.
