As part of the Euregionale 2008, the municipal authorities of Aachen, Herzogenrath and Kerkrade decided to create a nearby recreation area for the people living there. The result is a cross-border landscape park, which with is varied, attractive landscapes offers visitors a special place to relax for walking, jogging or cycling. The park is divided into the Lousberg, Soers, Hasenwalder Feld and Horbacher Börder sections. The park is named after the “Pferdelandpark”, or horse park, which formed the basis for the idea of this leisure area.
