Art installation to join in!

In the entrance area of Aachen's Hüls cemetery, a plant installation has been growing through the space since May, noticeably changing the perception and atmosphere. An installation of native plants is growing in the sober entrance hall - quietly, poetically, communally. It invites you to pause, to get involved - and to experience a place that is often associated with sadness in a new way.

Centimeter by centimeter. Flower by flower, for example, by adding a flower, a blade of grass, a branch or a dried leaf. We can experience this here. And in doing so, encounter the taboo subject of death and farewell in a new way, perhaps even discover the power in it. The power of change.

This installation of dried plants carries the power, the scent and the individuality of each plant. Just as the presence of the deceased can often still be felt. We are all connected in and with nature. We are part of it - part of a greater whole. Nature makes no distinction between nation, religion or origin. It enlivens, harmonizes, does us good. Everywhere. Always.

Additional events:

Cemetery Day – Interactive Art (September 20, 11 a.m.–4 p.m.)

All visitors are invited to add to the installation themselves – with dried plants they have brought with them or those provided. A space of change that is transformed by every flower and every branch. An opportunity to meet the artist and purchase small art cards or workshop vouchers.

Meditative sounds & thought-provoking impulses (October 28, 3–4:30 p.m.)

Sound artist Yvonne Duchemin and musician Ingo Becker transform the foyer into a resonance chamber with gentle soundscapes and intuitive singing. The performance is accompanied by thought-provoking reflections by Sandra Ganser on the season and the theme of change. Come listen and let yourself be drawn in. Feel free to bring blankets or seat cushions. An afternoon of silence, sounds, and inner movement.

Soothing sounds to mark the end of the year and the project (December 18, 3–4:30 p.m.)

To mark the end of the project, the installation will be taken down step by step—and parts of the plant art can be taken home in exchange for a donation. Come listen and join in. With Yvonne Duchemin, Ingo Becker, and Sandra Ganser.
