A comprehensive retrospective exhibition of sound artist and composer Christina Kubisch
With The Emergence of Sound, Ludwig Forum Aachen presents a wide-ranging survey of sound artist Christina Kubisch. Since the 1970s, her work has explored the boundaries between composition, installation and performance, shaping the field of sound art internationally. Kubisch approaches listening as an active process. Sound and noise are treated as cultural, technical and social forces that influence how spaces are perceived. The exhibition traces her artistic path from early intermedia performances to expansive sound installations and recent site-specific works. Rarely shown scores, sketches and archival materials provide insight into her creative processes. A version of the renowned Electrical Walks, developed especially for Aachen, extends the exhibition into public space, connecting the museum with the city itself.
