The infatuated Nemorino loves Adina. Hopelessly. Because she only seems to have eyes for the boastful Belcore. And Adina would rather live free and unattached anyway. A magic cure is needed to make the other person fall in love. How convenient that the miracle doctor Dulcamara has a cure for everything and tricks Nemorino into buying a love potion for his already tight budget. As it turns out, it's just an ordinary red wine.
And Adina is rather irritated by the tipsy Nemorino, who is bursting with self-confidence. More love potion should finally bind her to him. But Adina has long since seen through Nemorino and knows a better way...
