AachenMünchener head office building
Between the main railway station and the city centre stands a building that offers a modern interpretation of Aachen's cityscape. The black and yellow façade design echoes the colours of the city and makes the building unmistakable. Designed by Gerhard Wittfeld, the complex opens onto Borngasse with a curved staircase that connects the urban space with the elevated forecourt. On the way up, you will encounter a large mural on the substation, which adds an artistic accent to the sober architecture. Behind the clean lines lies an ensemble of historic building blocks and modern additions, linked together by passageways. The building shows how contemporary architecture can be sensitively integrated into Aachen's established structure without losing its own language.
