Former Nikolaushospital
In the early 15th century, this building served as St. Nicholas Hospital and was a place of refuge for people on their pilgrimage to Aachen or Kornelimünster. A small chapel accompanied the hospital and offered travellers a moment of contemplation. Standing in front of the building today, you can still sense something of the original significance of this place, where protection and care were closely linked to pilgrimage. The surroundings quietly tell of the paths that once led through the region and made Aachen an important destination for religious visitors.
