Former Rathaus Burtscheid: a neoclassical landmark in the spa quarter
In the spa district of Burtscheid stands a building that offers a glimpse into the early history of the city. The former town hall was completed in 1824 by master builder Wilhelm Christian Ulich and is one of the few examples of classicist spa architecture in the district. Its clear façade design is reminiscent of a time when Burtscheid was an independent town with its own municipal facilities. Today, a retailer uses the historic rooms, but the character of the building remains palpable. Standing in front of it, you can still sense the importance the building once had for public life and how much it accompanied Burtscheid's transformation.
