The Green Metropolis connects the Aachen-Düren-Heinsberg region with its neighbours in Belgium and the Netherlands to form a vast area of exploration that combines nature and history. Vast heathlands, quiet river valleys and traces of industrial culture form a picture that constantly reveals itself anew when hiking or cycling. The project arose from the idea of transforming a former industrial region into a local recreation area and raising awareness of the shared landscape across borders. If you venture along these paths, you will experience places where nature and the past coexist quietly and the region reveals its diversity.
