Water castle route

...the “Wasserburgroute”, or water castle route. In the 470km area between Aachen, Cologne and Bonn, there are 120 castles and palaces waiting to be discovered over eight stages. Two of these pass through and past Aachen, from Jülich to Aachen via Stolberg to Düren. 2,000 years of settlement history meet flat plains, brown coal open-cast mining and artificially laid river branches, followed by the idyllic Wurm river valley.
