Water castle route

The Water Castle Route connects numerous castles and estates over a distance of around 380 kilometres, set amid fields, old avenues and quiet stream valleys. Whether you are travelling by bike or on foot, you will be accompanied by a unique blend of nature and architectural history. Many of the complexes are located deep in the countryside and reflect how closely protection, agriculture and prestigious living were once linked. The route constantly opens up new perspectives on the Rhineland, from gentle hills to open lowlands. Each stage tells a piece of history and allows you to discover the landscape and the past at your own pace.
