St. Peter
Right in the heart of the city stands St. Peter's, one of Aachen's oldest churches. The building dates back to an earlier Roman burial site and was first mentioned in 1215. Today, the church is a Baroque brick building dating from 1717. Its proximity to the bus station means you almost stumble upon this historical gem, which exudes a peaceful atmosphere despite its central location. Upon entering, you can feel the change over the centuries, reflected in the architecture and sense of space. St. Peter's is one of the earliest sacred buildings outside the city walls of the time and tells the story of Aachen's long religious tradition with every stone structure.
