Hirsch Apotheke

The Hirsch Pharmacy is one of the oldest pharmacies in Aachen and bears traces of more than three centuries of city history. It opened on the market square around 1659 and quickly developed into an important centre of medical knowledge. In 1683, its owner at the time carried out the first chemical analyses of Aachen's mineral water, an indication of how closely science and everyday life were once linked here. Today, you will find a place on Theaterplatz that preserves tradition and at the same time shows how vibrant historical roots can be in the modern cityscape.
