Hotmannspief
At the intersection of busy roads stands the Hotmannspief, a fountain that has been part of the city for centuries. As early as the 14th century, there was a running fountain here that carters used to water their horses. Perhaps this is where the unusual name Hotmann comes from. In the 19th century, the site was given a new look: in 1825, the obelisk was built according to plans by Adam Franz Friedrich Leydel, and in 1830 the figures were added. When you linger here, you can feel the connection between everyday city history and little anecdotes that have become established over time.
