The "Röhrenbrunnen" fountain

Fountain
Aachen's Röhrenbrunnen fountain – a play of light, water and steel
North of the Old Spa House, you will find the Röhrenbrunnen (Pipe Fountain), a work by sculptor Heinz Tobolla from 1971. The fountain stands on a small square between Komphausbadstraße and Kurhausstraße. Water flows into the centre from numerous stainless steel pipes of varying heights, creating a rhythmic image that appears different depending on your perspective. The fountain is particularly effective in the evening, when light softly accentuates the steel surfaces and makes the water shimmer in fine lines. The combination of clear design and lively water features makes this a peaceful stopover in the urban landscape.
