Nelson-Mandela-Park
Nelson Mandela Park is located west of Aachen city centre and combines nature with a piece of city history. The site was once the private garden of the von Halfern family and later part of the old hospital. As you walk around, you can still see how differently the areas have grown. Old giant trees create an almost enchanted atmosphere, while open meadows offer space for tranquillity. Since 2017, the park has borne the name of the South African Nobel Peace Prize winner, commemorating the long-standing town twinning between Aachen and Cape Town. In this mixture of memorial site and natural space, the park creates an atmosphere in which the past and relaxation complement each other.
