Varnenum
Varnenum, a Gallo-Roman temple complex dating back to the turn of the millennium, is located on the Schildchen plateau near Kornelimünster. The remains of the three temples appear modest today, but in ancient times this was an important sanctuary that combined Roman and local traditions. Only the basic outlines of the temple complexes are still visible, which makes the place seem all the more peaceful. As you walk across the open space, the landscape merges with history. The silence invites you to let your thoughts run free and imagine how people from the region once gathered here to honour their gods.
