Body Matters. Corporality in Video Art of the 1970s
With “Body Matters. Corporality in Video Art of the 1970s”, Ludwig Forum Aachen explores a pioneering era of contemporary art. Video became a tool to question identity, perception and the political dimension of the human body. The exhibition presents ten key works from the museum’s video archive, including pieces by Marina Abramović and Ulay, Bruce Nauman, Joan Jonas and Ulrike Rosenbach. Simple gestures and physical actions turn into artistic research. Feminist perspectives and social change are closely intertwined with reflections on space, technology and self observation, revealing how deeply art and body politics were connected in the 1970s.
