Lucy (4,6 Milliarden Jahre)

Drama
A poetic play about Lucy, a supermarket employee who travels through Earth's history, rediscovering her life and the world.
Lucy Afarensis works at the fish counter in a giant supermarket. Lucy wraps, Lucy weighs, Lucy enters prices, Lucy sticks on labels. From early morning until late at night, every day. And every day, her supervisor insults her as a Neanderthal whenever she makes a mistake. When the lunchbox containing her meal is stolen during her morning bus ride to work, Lucy decides to follow the thieves and gets off the bus. Unintentionally, she sets out on a journey that takes her far beyond her familiar life. As if drawn by a powerful current, she travels back through 4.6 billion years of Earth's history to the very beginnings of life on our planet. And even further, towards a possible new Big Bang. With humour and great poetic sensitivity, Gwendoline Soublin's play tells the story of a woman living under precarious conditions and the story of Planet Earth itself. Young director Julie Grothgar, whose production of Valère Novarina's The Imaginary Animal at Theater an der Ruhr in Mülheim was selected for the Nachtkritik Theatertreffen shortlist, now introduces herself to audiences at Theater Aachen for the first time.
