Jakobstraße is one of the oldest and most historic streets in the city. It connects the centre of Aachen with the district of Burtscheid and is part of the historic route that pilgrims once took on their way to Santiago de Compostela. The street is characterised by a mixture of historic buildings, charming old buildings and modern shops. The Church of St James, which gave the street its name, is particularly striking. Today, Jakobstraße is a lively place with a diverse mix of culture, gastronomy and retail.
