The "Marienbrunnen" fountain
Near Aachen Cathedral stands the Marienbrunnen fountain, also known as the Vinzenzbrunnen. Its neo-Gothic spire is reminiscent of the cathedral's architecture and is supported by four figures of saints. The figure of Mary, who gives the fountain its common name, faces the cathedral. The history of the site dates back to the 15th century, when a hospital dedicated to St. Vincent stood here. When you linger on Münsterplatz, the fountain blends into the cityscape like a silent echo of the past, telling of spiritual traditions that have shaped Aachen for centuries.
