Tritonenbrunnen Aachen: historic water figure along the Kaiser-Friedrich-Allee
The Triton Fountain is one of Aachen's most striking fountains. Originally created by sculptor Carl Burger, it stood in front of the main railway station at the beginning of the 20th century. The figure depicts a triton that appears to rise out of the water and gaze along the avenue. In 1923, the fountain was moved to its current location on Kaiser-Friedrich-Allee, where it has been a peaceful companion to the park ever since. The flowing water and powerful figure lend the place a slight tension and, at the same time, a serene tranquillity. If you venture closer, you can feel the contrast between movement and permanence that makes this fountain so special.
