Türe-Lüre-Ließje
Between Klappergasse and Rennbahn stands the Türe-Lüre-Ließje, a bronze sculpture commemorating an old Aachen girl and preserving a piece of the city's history. The name is said to date back to the French occupation, when it was used to describe complaints that were always the same. The monument shows Liesje between three boys and leaves plenty of room for interpretation. Some see a playful interaction, others recognise a trace of melancholy. The fountain invites you to pause for a moment and let the interplay of figure, place and history sink in. Since 1967, it has shaped this small section of the old town and connects everyday life with traditional anecdotes.
