St. Josef Grabeskirche
The former parish church of St. Josef has been a landmark in Aachen's Ostviertel district since the late 19th century. Built in 1894 according to plans by Franz Langenberg, it was long considered the spiritual centre of the district. Since 2006, the neo-Gothic building has served as a burial church and offers a special form of farewell, as the interior has been converted into a columbarium. The high-ceilinged effect has been retained, giving the place an atmosphere that combines tranquillity and dignity. Visitors experience a space that brings the past community life to life and at the same time allows for a modern approach to remembrance and mourning.
