Stele

A stele erected in 1971 by students from the Department of Sculpture at RWTH Aachen University stands in Augustinerplatz. The simple form of this free-standing pillar leaves room for personal interpretation. Standing in front of it, you can sense how art and urban space quietly merge. The stele is one of those works that does not loudly demand its place. It stands discreetly yet confidently in the middle of the square, thus continuing the tradition of using steles as carriers of memory and design. Its presence invites you to pause for a moment and forget everyday life for a moment.
