Three figures

The cast-iron ‘Three Figures’ by artist Klaus Schmetz, created in 1988, stand far apart from each other on Suermondtplatz. Their bodies seem frozen, their gazes do not meet. When you walk past them, you feel a quiet tension reminiscent of everyday situations in which people exist side by side without really encountering each other. The sculpture group invites you to reflect on closeness, distance and the unspoken, and remains impressive precisely because of its restraint.
